The Ownership Method™

You've already built your business.
Now, what do you want it to make possible for you?

You already built your business.
Now, what do you want it to make possible for you?

Your relationship with the business can also change. The Ownership Method™ integrates diagnostics and capability building so you can review your role, your responsibilities, and the identity you have built around the company, and decide how you want to participate in it at this stage of your life.

Let’s talk about your situation

Do any of these sound familiar?

You can run your business successfully and still live on your own terms.

On business terms

Your personal plans are put off until there is time.

You end up accepting responsibilities you wanted to let go of.

You find it hard to let go because you feel you would no longer be needed.

You keep filling the same role because it has always been that way.

You are still chasing what you wanted ten years ago.

Practicing Ownership™

What you want for your life is reflected in your business decisions.
You set boundaries and maintain agreements regarding your involvement.
You can change your role without losing your sense of who you are.
You redesign your role when it no longer makes sense for you.
You review what you want as your life changes.

Being an owner is a position.
Practicing Ownership™ requires capabilities.

The Ownership Method™

Understand your relationship with your business and develop the capacity to change it.

The methodology works with two complementary elements: reading your relationship with the business and developing the capabilities to act on it.

Ownership Compass™

The state of your relationship and where it is headed

The Ownership Compass™ explores six dimensions of your relationship with your company, offering an interpretation of your current state as well as signals about your ownership trajectory.

Ownership Compass™

Core Capabilities

What you need to develop in order to take action

Running a company doesn't guarantee you can exercise Ownership™ over it. These five capabilities allow you to decide the role the business plays in your life and act accordingly.

Clarity + Adaptation

Dynamic Clarity

Define what you want your business to make possible at this stage of your life, and recognize when you need to change course. We work with your priorities to help your business evolve.

Agency + Design

Decision and Design

Preserving the ability to choose and transforming those decisions into concrete change. We work on the boundaries, responsibilities, and forms of company participation that you need to redesign.

Detachment

Structural Detachment

Separating who you are from the role you hold and your business's results. We work on identifying attachments so you can delegate, transition roles, or move on to your next chapter without feeling like you are losing your identity.

Researcher, author, and founder of the Ownership Institute™.

My work begins with a simple question: How does a business continue to serve its owner’s life as both evolve?

For over fifteen years, I have worked with business owners, leadership teams, and organizations navigating growth and change. That journey led me to study what it really means to be an owner beyond just managing: the responsibilities you take on, the identity built around the business, and the ability to choose a different role when life shifts.

That research gave rise to Ownership™, a discipline dedicated to studying the relationship between the owner and their business, as well as the capabilities needed to deliberately redesign it.

Today, I combine research, writing, and individual advisory to help you define what that means for you and build the capabilities to act on it.
